CHICKEN WITH CHICKPEAS

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 onion, chopped.
  •  3 tablespoons semne.
  •  4 cloves garlic, minced.
  •  1 teaspoon tumeric.
  •  3 cups of water.
  •  1 large chicken, whole.
  •  3/4 teaspoon salt.
  •  1/4 cup lemon juice.
  •  Pepper.
  •  4 drops Tabasco.
  •  2 cans chickpeas, drained.

 


 STEP BY STEP:

  1. Heat the semne in a large deep skillet and sauté the onion in it.
  2.  Add the garlic and the tumeric, mix them until they become one mixture.
  3.  Put in the chicken and sauté on all sides until it is deep yellow.
  4.  Pour the water and the lemon juice.
  5.  Sprinkle with salt, pepper and Tabasco.
  6.  Keep it until it boils then reduce heat.
  7.  Cover and keep it for about 45 minutes until the chicken is almost done.
  8.  Add the chickpeas and cook for another 5 minutes.

NOTICE: It is better to cut the chicken into pieces before cooking.
