CHICKEN WITH CHICKPEAS
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 onion, chopped.
- 3 tablespoons
semne.
- 4 cloves
garlic, minced.
- 1 teaspoon
tumeric.
- 3 cups of
water.
- 1 large
chicken, whole.
- 3/4 teaspoon
salt.
- 1/4 cup lemon
juice.
- Pepper.
- 4 drops Tabasco.
- 2 cans
chickpeas, drained.
STEP
BY STEP:
- Heat the semne in a large deep skillet and sauté the
onion in it.
- Add the garlic and the tumeric, mix them until they
become one mixture.
- Put in the chicken and sauté on all sides until it is
deep yellow.
- Pour the water and the lemon juice.
- Sprinkle with salt, pepper and Tabasco.
- Keep it until it boils then reduce heat.
- Cover and keep it for about 45 minutes until the chicken
is almost done.
- Add the chickpeas and cook for another 5 minutes.
NOTICE: It is better to cut the chicken into pieces before
cooking.
