RICE WITH PEAS
(RIZ MAA BAZALIA)

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1+1/4 cups rice, rinsed.
  •  1/3 cup semne.
  •  1 small spoon salt.
  •  2+2/3 cups of water.
  • 1 chicken boullion cube(optional).
  •  2/3 cup frozen or canned peas.

 


 STEP BY STEP:

  1. Heat the semne first over a low flame and then add the rice.
  2.  Add the remaining ingredients, keep it over a medium heat until it begins to boil.
  3.  Continue to cook until much of the water has been absorbed(about 15 minutes), immediately reduce the heat and cover.
  4.  When the water has been completely absorbed and the rice is still too firm, add about 3 tablespoons of water, cover, and cook for a few more minutes.
  5.  If the rice is too soft and water still remains in the pot, remove the cover, increase the flame for 2 minutes.
